Captain Matt is a highly active offshore angler, USCG-licensed captain, and certified divemaster with a dedicated focus on daytime swordfishing and deep-water offshore techniques.

After years of refining his approach, he has developed a detailed understanding of the elements that make daytime swordfishing successful—from equipment and bait preparation to drift management, boat positioning, bite detection, and fighting the fish. In this style of fishing, small details can make a major difference, and Captain Matt’s hands-on teaching explains not only what to do, but why it works.

Through his Daytime Swordfish School, Captain Matt works directly with boat owners who want to become more confident and successful fishing from their own vessels. Students participate in every part of the process, including preparing the equipment, rigging baits, setting up the boat, making the drop, recognizing bites, managing the fight, and properly handling the fish.
